Episode 4: What do I automate next?
Date: 17 May 2022
Hosted by: Jimmy Hewitt, Sr. Automation Advisor sponsored by Salient Process
Our host, Jimmy Hewitt, will guide you through the decision process of "what to automate next" in this episode of Bots & Thoughts: The Hyperautomation Podcast. Hewitt will first establish two guiding principles for our listeners to follow throughout the decision-making process for automation. Then, you will hear about two considerations to keep in mind as well when deciding on your next automation venture. The guiding principles and considerations in this episode will touch on a range of automation maturities, from your first automation to your second automation and beyond, making them applicable to all listeners regardless of automation experience.
“A quick win leads to inbound requests for more of what you’ve done, which leads to the establishment of evaluation/prioritization criteria and better governance.”
“Our last RPA quick win had a very low financial barrier to entry. It paid for itself entirely in less than 3 months and is generating an 8x return year over year for this client. Not a bad quick win!”
“Equipped with these two guiding principles and two considerations, your hyperautomation COE (Center of Excellence) will be standing on the shoulders of all early adopters who have paved the way for your success.”

Episode 3: Automate Financial Reporting with IBM RPA: Salient Process x Primanti Bros
Date: 1 May 2022
Hosted by: Jimmy Hewitt, Sr. Automation Advisor sponsored by Salient Process
Guest: Caitlin Stritmatter, Director of Financial Planning & Analysis at Primanti Brothers Restaurant & Bar
In this exclusive episode of Bots & Thoughts: The Hyperautomation Podcast, you will listen to our host, Jimmy Hewitt, sit down with a Primanti Brothers executive, Caitlin Stritmatter, to discuss the company’s journey into the world of hyperautomation. Primanti Brothers is a chain of sandwich shops in the eastern United States that previously relied on manual, time-consuming, and highly repetitive tasks. You will listen to a firsthand account of the company’s digital transformation and hyperautomation experience. During this episode, you will hear how hyperautomation fits into the context of customer experience, employee experience, future-proofing, and facilitating your company’s own growth plans, all while saving costs. You don’t want to miss out on the very first special guest episode of Bots & Thoughts!
Host: “I think everyone out here can relate to the circumstances leading up to Primanti Brothers’ first step into hyperautomation, regardless of what industry you work in.”
Guest: “There is absolutely no plan to slow down. Scalability, ever since I started here, has been my number one goal, and I really think that automation is going to help get us there.”
Host: “If you had to boil down your hyperautomation experience, or maybe this first bot, to one or two words, what would they be?”
Guest: “Relief.”
Host: “I really do think of hyperautomation as a pressure release valve to any organization who’s bringing it in. There’s pressure to do tasks, to do a variety of tasks that vary in value to the organization. Where is my pressure coming from? It’s my time commitments on the lower value things when I know I have higher-value things that also need to be done.”
Guest: “Automate everything. The less busy work you can do, the better off everyone is, the happier you’ll be, the more effective you’ll be at your job. You know, it doesn’t feel like time is being wasted when you don’t have to waste time doing something a bot can do.”

Episode 2: The History of Hyperautomation
Date: 1 May 2022
Hosted by: Jimmy Hewitt, Sr. Automation Advisor sponsored by Salient Process
During this episode of Bots & Thoughts: The Hyperautomation Podcast, you will learn about the history of the seven distinct hyperautomation capabilities. Specifically, you will hear how process mapping, Process Mining, Task Automation, Capture, Workflow, Content, and Decision Automation capabilities originated. From parenting 12 children to defining Process Mapping, saving man-hours on Wall Street to the start of Robotic Process Automation, scanning a simple picture of your child to the creation of Optical Character Recognition, and much more, each automation capability has its own story of how it came to be. Not only will you get a glimpse into the history of the hyperautomation capabilities, but you will also listen to a bonus section that travels back to the very beginning of hyperautomation, nearly 2 million years ago. Please join our host, Jimmy Hewitt, to dive into the exciting history of hyperautomation!
“The origin story of process mapping goes back to the same year that Babe Ruth eclipsed the career home run record. That’s right. In 1921, a mechanical engineer, the father of process mapping, one of my heroes, and the father from [the original] Cheaper by the Dozen (yes, the movie), Frank Gilbreth and his wife, who’s also a mechanical engineer, made a seminal presentation to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers called Process Charts: First Steps in Finding the One Best Way.”
“Process mining can be described as the missing link between process mapping and data science.”
“I was amazed at how many concepts still hold true today.”
“How interesting is it that history not only repeats itself, but the intent of this technology still stays the same after over 30 years?”
“Learning about and talking you all through the history and humble beginnings of hyperautomation has also really made me appreciate how far we have come and how much easier it is, relatively speaking, to get from idea to actual business value.”
